Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership. This role leads the high-fidelity Radar Cross Section (RCS) simulation workflow for low-observable aircraft design, directing complex analysis models and extensive computational campaigns on high-performance computing clusters. You will direct all aspects of RCS calculations and testing, from constructing and maintaining analysis models to managing supplier activities and correlating simulation results with physical measurement data. Your work directly shapes the low-observable design of airframes, antennas, and other critical features through signature data generation and hot-spot analyses that guide trade studies. Day-to-day responsibilities include: - Directing high-fidelity RCS simulations using Method of Moments (MoM) and Multilevel Fast Multipole Method (MLFMM) for airframe and payload-driven signature topics - Implementing Physical Optics analyses for electrically large structures and fast-turn trade studies - Constructing and maintaining analysis models, including CAD cleanup, material assignment, boundary conditions, and excitation setups - Creating and optimizing triangular surface meshes for convergence and numerical stability - Conducting sweep campaigns across frequency, aspect, and polarization to generate RCS polars and sensitivity studies - Diagnosing and resolving solver issues including convergence problems, mesh quality, and numerical artifacts - Guiding signature-reduction trade studies collaboratively with structures and low-observability teams - Correlating simulation results against range and anechoic chamber measurements, quantifying error bars and documenting assumptions - Optimizing workflows for high-performance computing execution and automating result post-processing - Producing comprehensive program artifacts and decision-ready reports for design reviews - Coordinating supplier activities for RCS calculation and testing Requirements: - Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline - Demonstrated experience delivering computational electromagnetic and RCS analysis for complex aerospace platforms, including materials and radome modelling - Practical expertise with MoM/MLFMM and Physical Optics methods, with clear understanding of when to apply each - Proficiency in meshing and CAD-to-solver workflows, capable of diagnosing and resolving geometry-driven numerical problems - Ability to coordinate large sweeps on high-performance computing clusters with understanding of solver scaling and convergence controls - Strong communication skills to convey complex results effectively, providing clear design guidance, hotspot attribution, and trade-offs Nice to have: - Understanding of extensions such as PTD (Physical Theory of Diffraction), UTD (Uniform Theory of Diffraction), and edge diffraction methods
