Lambda is a leader in AI cloud infrastructure serving tens of thousands of customers, from AI researchers to enterprises and hyperscalers. The company's mission is to make compute as ubiquitous as electricity and give everyone access to superintelligence.
Lambda's Cloud Console is the customer-facing platform where users discover, provision, and manage AI infrastructure. Through the console, customers manage GPUs and clusters, configure networking and identity, monitor usage and billing, and navigate enterprise workflows. The company is seeking a Staff or Lead Full-Stack Software Engineer to define and build the next generation of this experience.
This is a high-impact individual-contributor role combining product judgment with technical depth. You will own complex, customer-facing initiatives across the React/TypeScript frontend, APIs, and backend services while establishing scalable architecture and strong engineering practices. You will work closely with Product and Design teams, partner across the cloud platform, and translate sophisticated infrastructure capabilities into clear, reliable, cohesive user workflows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and operate end-to-end product experiences across React, TypeScript frontend, APIs, and backend services
- Own major console initiatives from discovery through implementation, rollout, measurement, and iteration
- Translate complex cloud concepts (compute lifecycle, networking, identity, governance, billing) into intuitive workflows
- Partner with Product and Design to clarify requirements and shape solutions balancing customer value with technical sustainability
- Collaborate with API Experience, Billing, Platform, and Support teams on cohesive cross-system features
- Establish architectural patterns improving frontend performance, reliability, accessibility, observability, and developer velocity
- Raise engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, documentation, testing, and operational ownership
- Identify and lead durable improvements to product and codebase friction
- Mentor engineers and develop teammates' product, architecture, and execution skills
- Contribute to roadmap planning and technical strategy
At the Lead Engineer level, you will own technical delivery of significant product areas, coordinate execution across engineers and partner teams, make architectural decisions within the Console domain, and improve team practices through hands-on technical leadership. At the Staff Engineer level, you will additionally set technical direction across multiple product areas, lead multi-quarter initiatives with broad impact, align teams around shared interfaces and patterns, anticipate systemic risks and opportunities, and serve as a trusted technical partner to engineering, product, and design leadership.
The role requires presence in the San Francisco office four days per week, with Tuesday designated as the work-from-home day.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Extensive experience building and operating production web applications across frontend and backend
- Demonstrated leadership in designing and delivering substantial customer-facing systems in fast-moving environments
- High proficiency with modern frontend development, including React and TypeScript
- Ability to design and reason about APIs, service boundaries, data models, asynchronous workflows, and distributed-system failure modes
- Strong product judgment and deep care for usability, especially when presenting complex technical systems
- Ability to bring structure and momentum to ambiguous problems without waiting for complete requirements
- Clear communication of technical decisions through design documents, diagrams, reviews, and collaboration
- Skill in building alignment across teams without relying on organizational authority
- Balance of short-term delivery with reliability, maintainability, and long-term architectural health
- Ownership of production outcomes including testing, observability, incident response, and continuous improvement
- Investment in growth and effectiveness of engineers around you
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience building cloud consoles, infrastructure products, or enterprise SaaS applications
- Familiarity with GPU infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, identity and access management, or cloud control planes
- Experience evolving frontend architecture or design systems across multiple teams
