Datacor, a leading provider of software solutions for process manufacturing (ERP, CRM, Asset Tracking, Simulation, Formulation), is seeking a Senior Scientific Programmer to join the GoldSim development team. GoldSim is a world-leading dynamic simulation software platform used by engineers and scientists globally to model complex water resources, environmental systems, and engineering problems. In this senior individual contributor role, you will have direct impact on developing new modeling capabilities and enhancing GoldSim's simulation engine. You will own the numerical solutions and mathematical/computer science algorithms underlying the platform—from theoretical foundation (equations, algorithm design) through implementation in the C++ codebase. Key responsibilities include: **Algorithm & Development:** Participate in design discussions across the full development lifecycle. Own the numerical solutions and mathematical algorithms underlying GoldSim's simulation engine. Push practical, real-world improvements to GoldSim's numerical capabilities and propose new features driven by customer needs. **Model Building & Verification:** Build GoldSim models that apply and exercise the platform's numerical capabilities for QA, verification, example models shipped with the product, and direct customer support. Use hands-on model-building as a primary validation method for new or improved algorithms. **Documentation & Knowledge Transfer:** Document both the theoretical basis (equations, algorithm descriptions) and practical implementation of GoldSim's numerical methods to prevent knowledge concentration. Partner with the founding engineer to formalize existing modeling, QA, and support methodology. **Collaboration & Support:** Work alongside the software engineering team to integrate new numerical capabilities into the product. Engage with customers to understand their needs and support their use of advanced features. You will work in a collaborative environment with a small, experienced team and have the opportunity to shape software that engineers and scientists rely on globally. The company has offices across the US, including Seattle, with flexible in-office options. **Requirements:** - Strong foundation in numerical methods, mathematical algorithms, and computer science - Proficiency in C++ and experience with scientific/numerical computing - Solid understanding of differential equations, numerical solvers, and algorithm design - Experience building and validating mathematical models - Good communication skills; must write effectively and enjoy team interaction - Plus: Experience developing and supporting Windows desktop applications - Plus: Hands-on experience with data science tools (MATLAB, R, Tableau) - Plus: Experience applying AI/ML techniques to scientific or engineering software
