CX2 is a venture-backed defense technology company building AI-enabled hardware and software platforms to detect, disrupt, and defend the electromagnetic spectrum across land, air, sea, and space domains. The company is seeking a Lead RF Hardware Engineer to join its growing team at the El Segundo, CA headquarters.
In this role, you will provide cradle-to-grave support for RF components including software-defined radios, amplifiers, antennas, and frequency converters. You will own the full lifecycle from requirements capture and schematic design through layout, bring-up, measurement, production, and test. A key responsibility is automating bench measurement setups for RF test data collection and post-processing to drive data-informed decisions.
You will design, integrate, and maintain complex RF systems at speed, with deep expertise in New Product Introduction (NPI), design-for-manufacturing, and design-for-test. The role includes mentoring and coaching a cross-functional engineering team, requiring strong communication and technical depth across eCAD, CAD, RF fundamentals, and proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB.
Additional responsibilities include creating and validating link budgets against real-world test data, supporting critical test events (occasionally requiring extended hours/weekends), and maintaining security clearance eligibility.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 4 years total experience, with minimum 2 years leading a cross-functional engineering team
- Experience creating link budgets and aligning them to real-world test data
- Strong understanding of RF system parameters: gain, cascaded noise figure, figure-of-merit, linearity, band flatness
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex electrical systems and identify root causes methodically
- Antenna and receiver design expertise across analog/RF/mixed-signal domains (mixers, PLLs/LOs, gain/linearity/noise tradeoffs)
- Knowledge of channelizers and wideband architectures (filter banks, analog/digital down conversion, sample-rate planning, clocking/synchronization)
- Willingness to support critical test events with occasional extended hours/weekends
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Must be a U.S. Person per ITAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, Green Card holder, or eligible for State Department authorization)
BONUS: Experience with hardware qualification campaigns, RF systems on UAVs or military applications, GNU Radio or DSP frameworks, or scaling RF products.
