Arca is an AI-powered wealth management platform rebuilding the industry from the ground up. Rather than traditional SaaS, Arca is the wealth management business itself—using AI to augment advisors so they can deliver high-touch, personalized service at scale. The company has raised $64M in Series A funding from General Catalyst, Index Ventures, and Venrock, and is backed by advisors including the former CEO of Vanguard and former CFO of Schwab.
As a Member of Technical Staff focused on Product Design, you will set the vision, visual language, and interaction patterns for Arca's platform from the ground up. This is a hands-on role where you design, prototype, and ship—not direct from a distance. You'll work directly with the founder and engineering team across both the advisor-facing platform and the consumer-facing client experience.
Key areas you'll own include:
- Client experience: designing where clients see their full financial picture, engage with advisors, and manage their wealth. This is Arca's first direct consumer product, so you define what the experience is from first touchpoint through ongoing management.
- Advisor surfaces: the platform advisors use daily to serve clients more effectively, enabling one advisor to deliver high-touch service to far more clients.
- Agentic experiences: designing how people work alongside AI agents that draft, decide, and act—including when to escalate to humans and how to build trust in agent actions.
- Generative UI: design patterns for interfaces that agents assemble dynamically, with systems to keep them coherent and on-brand.
- Design system and visual language: establishing principles and patterns that scale across every firm Arca acquires.
- User research: sitting with advisors and clients to understand where they hesitate and bringing insights directly into product.
- Building the design function: hiring, establishing rituals, and raising craft standards as the team grows.
Example problems you'll solve include: how to let advisors review days of agent work (account transfers, paperwork, plan updates) in minutes with confidence; how to build trust when agents touch client money; how to present complex financial pictures (accounts, taxes, estate plans, goals) in a way that feels calm and personal rather than overwhelming; and how to design a system for dynamically generated UI that stays on-brand and predictable.
You're joining at an inflection point. The platform is live and proven with real advisors and real client assets. The company just came out of stealth and is growing fast. The advisor-facing product is being defined right now as they scale across multiple acquisitions. The consumer product is a blank page—you define what it becomes.
The team is intentionally small (about 80% technical), based in Flatiron, NYC, fully in-office five days a week. You'll work alongside engineers from Stripe, Ramp, Rippling, Plaid, Doordash, and Glean.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Senior or staff-level product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional, polished work
- 0→1 product experience at a startup; ability to ship fast while maintaining high craft standards
- Consumer product design experience, or consumer-focused B2B products held to the same bar. Background from design-forward companies (Linear, Mercury, Stripe, Ramp, Notion) or equivalent trajectory
- Fintech experience is a plus
- Daily use of AI tools; real opinions on what agents make possible; comfortable prototyping in code and speaking engineers' language
- Experience designing for agents specifically is a plus
- Strong user research mindset; understanding the difference between what people ask for and what they need
- Comfort with ambiguity and ownership; ability to set direction and make calls with incomplete information
- Thrives in small, tight-knit, in-office team environment; kind, direct, low-ego; energized by collaborative problem-solving
