Farfetch is a global luxury fashion marketplace connecting customers in over 190 countries with items from more than 1,400 brands, boutiques, and department stores.
You will lead the Platform Infrastructure team responsible for building the foundation of Farfetch's technology ecosystem. This is a people-leadership role balancing team management with strategic technical oversight. Your mission is to foster a high-performing team that delivers a seamless, scalable, and reliable platform enabling engineering teams across the company to ship software faster and with higher quality.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing a team of individual contributors, with focus on career growth, clear expectations, and psychological safety
- Developing and implementing strategic roadmaps aligned with company goals
- Driving adoption of self-service infrastructure capabilities and Infrastructure as Code to reduce developer cognitive load
- Overseeing reliability, performance, and scalability of large-scale distributed systems for high-traffic events
- Partnering with Principal Engineers and other leads to translate business needs into technical strategies
- Identifying opportunities to optimize cost efficiency and reliability through automation and modern infrastructure patterns
You will work from Farfetch's Porto office, located in a vibrant business hub in northern Portugal with a large community of tech professionals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven track record managing and growing engineering teams with focus on mentorship and team dynamics
- Strong technical background in cloud infrastructure (e.g., Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and modern CI/CD patterns (ArgoCD, Jenkins)
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycle with hands-on experience in development languages (Python or Golang) to support tool-building for developers
- Strong roadmap management skills and focus on continuous system improvement
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Security and compliance prioritization as core platform pillars
