You would lead the Feed Squad, the team owning the market data infrastructure that powers nearly everything users see and rely on. The feed ingests live and delayed prices, statistics, charts, and asset data from multiple providers across every market Thndr operates in, exposing a single unified feed to the rest of the platform. This is a foundational, performance-critical system: every millisecond matters. When a price arrives late or wrong, it affects real money for real people. The system must handle 100,000+ assets and hundreds of thousands of price updates per second without dropping a beat, while remaining correct and available when providers fail, connections drop, or infrastructure gives out mid-session.
In this role, you will set technical direction for feed services across Egypt, UAE, US, and soon KSA. You own the SLOs and overall health of the feed system, holding the team to high standards on observability, sensible on-call practices, and graceful failover. You will decide how the team uses different databases and data models (Redis, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL), own the infrastructure the feed runs on, and understand how data reaches from each provider to build in appropriate redundancy. You will identify technical debt and reliability risks, set priorities for improvement, and raise the bar on quality and operational discipline through code reviews, design reviews, pairing, and mentoring.
You will work alongside some of Thndr's strongest engineers on unusually hard and unusually consequential problems, owning systems the rest of the platform quietly depends on.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong track record leading design, delivery, and operation of reliable backend systems in production used by large numbers of people
- Real depth in distributed systems and clear understanding of keeping them fast and correct under load and failure
- Experience owning systems end-to-end from design through production and on-call; care about how systems behave when providers drop or nodes fail
- Feel for performance; treat latency and throughput as first-class concerns
- Familiarity with stack or confidence to learn quickly: Python, C#, .NET Core, Golang, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis, ClickHouse
- High bar for correctness and operational discipline; ability to instill same bar in others; understanding that mistakes have real consequences for real people
- Clear, candid communicator who can set technical direction, mentor engineers, and work closely with downstream teams
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers formally or informally; setting technical direction for a team
- Experience building real-time performance systems where latency and throughput are critical
- Experience with ClickHouse or similar OLAP databases and query/schema patterns
- Experience in fintech, brokerage, trading, or other regulated high-stakes domains
- Experience operating hybrid infrastructure (on-prem and cloud)
