You will join the Mobile Platform team, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This team owns the shared technical foundations that power Zopa's iOS app, including architecture, shared modules, design system, observability, developer tooling, and CI/CD infrastructure. The team's mission is to shape the direction of mobile engineering at Zopa, create excellent developer experiences for product teams, and reduce technical complexity so engineers can focus on customer problems.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the foundations of Zopa's native iOS platform, working alongside talented iOS engineers
- Collaborate with the broader mobile community (including React Native engineers) to share best practices and make informed decisions about native development
- Improve the Zopa app's speed, reliability, and user experience by identifying bottlenecks, resolving bugs, and optimizing performance
- Build and evolve customer-facing features that leverage iOS native capabilities
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams from concept through high-quality release
- Contribute to the iOS engineering community at Zopa, helping establish standards and mature the native engineering practice
The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week in the London office. You'll have flexibility to work abroad for up to 120 days annually (subject to work authorization).
Requirements:
- Proven experience building and shipping polished production iOS apps using Swift
- Solid understanding of iOS frameworks and native mobile development principles
- Experience working on modern, high-engagement apps with a focus on creating fast, intuitive user experiences
- Strong commitment to code quality: you write maintainable code, value engineering best practices, and take pride in improving reliability, testing, and overall app quality
- Curious, collaborative mindset motivated by building products that make a meaningful difference for customers
Bonus (not essential):
- Experience applying mobile security best practices
- Collaboration experience with Android (Kotlin) or React Native engineers
