AppDirect's Tackle business unit is a leading cloud go-to-market platform serving 500+ software companies (including CrowdStrike, HashiCorp, New Relic, Snyk) to identify buyers, grow cloud co-sell relationships, and transact at scale through AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft.
You'll join a small, high-ownership engineering team building Tackle's post-transaction marketplace experience—the systems that keep contracts, invoices, payments, and metered usage in sync after a deal closes, and the product surfaces vendors use to act on that data.
Your day-to-day work spans the full stack: backend (Node.js, Go) and frontend (React), running on AWS across Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions, ECS, and Postgres. Because the team is small, you'll own meaningful portions of the product end-to-end: from cloud marketplace APIs through data pipelines that build contracts or deliver usage records, to the React UI and public APIs customers rely on.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain full-stack features across Tackle's post-transaction product, exposing data through React frontend and TypeScript/Node.js and Go backends.
- Design and implement backend services on AWS, including serverless, event-driven systems (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions).
- Own and evolve data integrations with AWS, Microsoft, and Google marketplaces; publish change events for downstream systems.
- Take end-to-end ownership of features—from design through deployment and operation—on a team where contributions are immediately visible in production, including customer APIs, CRM integrations, and change notifications.
- Collaborate daily with product managers and engineers to shape how marketplace billing and usage data is modeled, synced, and surfaced.
- Participate in code reviews to uphold quality standards and share knowledge across the small engineering team.
You bring a growth mindset: comfortable asking questions, learning unfamiliar cloud APIs quickly, and closing gaps through curiosity. You communicate clearly in a distributed team and take pride in writing testable, maintainable, production-ready code.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of professional experience building full-stack web applications, with working knowledge of both frontend and backend layers.
- Professional experience with React and TypeScript (or strong JavaScript/TypeScript proficiency with demonstrated readiness to work in a TypeScript-only codebase).
- Hands-on experience deploying applications on AWS, particularly with serverless services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB). Familiarity with event-driven patterns (EventBridge, SQS, Step Functions, DynamoDB streams) is a plus.
- Comfort working with external APIs and moving/transforming data between systems, keeping search indexes and CRM records in sync.
- Comfort working with AI coding tools (team uses Cursor heavily).
- Strong sense of ownership; on a small team you will hold significant responsibility for product areas and drive work forward with limited direction.
- Intellectual curiosity to understand how your code fits into the broader system.
