Lead and build the EMEA engineering team for Intelligence Center X (ICX), Siemens' industrial AI platform that combines graph technology, ontology, machine learning, and agentic AI to solve enterprise problems for leading companies in automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductors, pharma, and financial services.
As Engineering Manager, you will manage a presales field development engineering (FDE) team responsible for ideation and delivery of customer engagements. Your team models customer domains as enterprise ontologies, builds agentic AI solutions, and delivers working applications that demonstrate value and drive customer investment in ICX.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead by example: build customer solutions yourself and set the technical bar for the team
- Serve as a senior technical presence on key customer opportunities and alongside sales leadership
- Recruit, hire, and develop strong engineers; grow their careers and capabilities
- Collaborate with global ICX leadership to evolve customer engagement practices across all zones
- Work with sales teams and strategic partners; report to the EMEA Pre-Sales Leader
Your team's work spans diverse use cases: connecting quality and supplier data for aerospace manufacturers to identify defects, building agentic assistants for pharma batch release decisions, and shaping strategic engagements with enterprise leadership. You ensure each engagement succeeds and that knowledge is shared across the team.
Siemens Software operates on a hybrid-by-default model built on trust and autonomy. The role involves up to 25% travel, with flexibility for increased customer site time. You'll have direct influence on the ICX product roadmap through your team's customer engagements.
Requirements:
- Formal management or team-lead experience leading customer-facing FDE, presales, services, or other technical teams
- Hands-on expertise with agentic AI and enterprise ontology; you must still build and set the example
- Entrepreneurial mindset: take ownership, move at startup pace, find routes to outcomes with large enterprises
- Business acumen and credibility with both customers and sales leadership
- Experience in technical consulting leadership, leading client engagements and delivery teams in agentic AI, data, and analytics (consultancy or systems integrator background valued)
- Proven ability to recruit, hire, and develop engineers
- Senior customer presence: lead working sessions with technical and business stakeholders, including executives
- Data engineering and analytics expertise: understanding enterprise data architecture, integration, and modeling
- Familiarity with modern data and AI platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Google Cloud, AWS, Palantir, C3.ai)
- Agentic AI design and development: LLMs, retrieval, tool use, model context protocol (MCP)
- Experience with agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar)
- Enterprise ontology and knowledge graph modeling applied to real business domains
- Machine learning and data science: building models for forecasting, anomaly detection, classification
- Industry experience in manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, pharma, aerospace, or financial services is valued
