Join Siemens Software's Intelligence Center X (ICX) team as an engineer leading the ideation and creation of forward-deployed customer engagements. ICX is Siemens' industrial AI platform that combines graph technology, ontology, machine learning, and agentic AI to solve enterprise problems for leaders in automotive, aerospace, defense, semiconductors, pharma, and financial services.
In this presales field development engineer (FDE) role, you will take complex business problems and data landscapes, model them as enterprise ontologies, build agents and machine learning solutions that reason over and act on the data, and deliver working agentic applications with compelling business cases. You'll work alongside sales teams and strategic partners, engaging directly with customers to demonstrate value and earn investment in ICX.
Example engagement: An industrial manufacturer needs to answer in minutes a question that currently takes weeks—what does this change affect? You'll connect data spread across a dozen systems, model the enterprise ontology, build an agent to reason over it, and show the customer the business impact through a compelling agentic user experience.
You'll be hands-on with agentic AI development, entrepreneurial in your approach, and focused on business value. You'll run working sessions with technical and business stakeholders, make sense of complex data landscapes, and move at startup pace to deliver outcomes. The role involves up to 25% travel for customer engagements, with flexibility for more on-site time if desired.

Requirements:
- Hands-on experience or strong potential with agentic AI and ontology; ability to build working solutions using agentic development tools
- Entrepreneurial mindset with ownership mentality and ability to move at startup pace
- Customer-facing technical communication skills for working sessions with technical and business stakeholders
- Data engineering and analytics experience: making sense of distributed enterprise data and modeling it
- Experience with modern data and AI platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Google Cloud, AWS data lakes, Palantir, C3.ai)
- Agentic AI design experience: LLMs, retrieval, tool use, MCP
- Proficiency with agentic development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot or similar)
- Enterprise ontology or knowledge graph modeling and deployment experience
- Machine learning and data science background: building models for forecasting, anomaly detection, classification
- Preferred: FDE, presales, or innovative professional services experience; technical consulting background; experience in manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, pharma, aerospace, or financial services
- No minimum years of experience required; hiring across levels from recent graduates to experienced professionals. Evidence of building and drive to work with customers is what matters.
