Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with strong software focus to join the Maneuver Dominance team at the Costa Mesa headquarters. This role focuses on developing and scaling Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) capabilities for an early-stage, undisclosed autonomous air vehicle program.
You will work at the intersection of simulation, hardware integration, and system-level testing to enable reliable and repeatable testing on physical systems. The team is lean and high-ownership oriented, with the entire vehicle team (mechanical, structural, electrical, and software engineers) sitting side-by-side and iterating quickly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain test frameworks and software infrastructure bridging Software-In-The-Loop (SITL) to Hardware-In-The-Loop testing
- Build logging infrastructure and log-processing tooling to capture, organize, correlate, and analyze system behavior during HITL testing
- Develop diagnostics and telemetry debug capabilities for visibility into system state and troubleshooting
- Create fault-injection capabilities for controlled failure and degraded condition testing
- Build automated tests to evaluate system behavior, fault detection, handling, recovery, and graceful degradation
- Develop configuration management tracking tools for consistent and reproducible HITL configurations
- Automate HITL health checks, setup, configuration, deployment, and test execution
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for regression testing
- Establish software and testing best practices for HITL systems in the development lifecycle
- Support physical stand-up, configuration, and maintenance of open-loop and closed-loop HITLs
- Troubleshoot real-time simulation issues during HITL operations, including timing constraints and hardware interface problems
- Work closely with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers on integration and test issues
- Operate with strong safety mindset in prototype and experimental environments
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering, or similar
- Ability to take ownership of software infrastructure from development through deployment, testing, and maintenance
- Experience developing automated test frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management processes, and test tooling (logging, diagnostics, debug utilities)
- Strong proficiency in Python and C++
- Experience with Github
- Experience developing, operating, and maintaining software frameworks for HIL/HITL/Ironbird/System Support Equipment for Group 4 or Group 5 UAS, aerospace, or defense vehicle integration and test environments
- Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553)
- Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot across software and hardware boundaries
- Hands-on experience working with and troubleshooting electrical systems, harnesses, LRUs, and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Experience using diagnostic and protocol analysis tools (Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces, or similar)
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly in fast-paced development environment
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Commitment to positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
- Eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance in United States, United Kingdom, or Australia (desirable)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation
- Experience performing LRU-, subsystem-, and system-level hardware integration and bring-up
- Prior experience with oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and other electrical test equipment
- Familiarity with Nix
