Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an Integration and Test Engineer with strong electrical expertise to join the Maneuver Dominance team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. This role focuses on designing, building, and sustaining Hardware-In-The-Loop (HITL) and Ironbird capabilities that bridge simulation software to physical hardware testing for autonomous air vehicle development.
You will work at the intersection of simulation, hardware integration, software development, and system-level testing. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining HITL electrical infrastructure; designing system architecture including harness diagrams, breakout boxes, switching mechanisms, and PCB designs; supporting procurement, physical stand-up, configuration, and maintenance of open-loop and closed-loop HITLs; troubleshooting real-time simulation issues during HITL operations; developing diagnostics and telemetry debug capabilities; coordinating harness builds with electrical technicians; developing fault-injection capabilities for controlled failure testing; creating configuration management tracking tools; automating HITL health checks and test execution; understanding and contributing to HITL software architecture; establishing testing best practices; collaborating with software, systems, simulation, and hardware engineers; and maintaining strong safety practices in prototype and experimental environments.
You will be part of a lean, high-ownership culture where the entire vehicle team sits side-by-side, iterating quickly and making real-time decisions. The program is early-stage and undisclosed, focused on re-inventing an existing autonomous air vehicle platform through heavy modification and integration of advanced autonomy, mission systems, and payloads. You will have influence over foundational architecture decisions and the opportunity to redefine the platform.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautics Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
- Experience architecting, developing, and sustaining HITL/Ironbird labs for Group 4 or 5 UAS, aerospace, or defense vehicle integration and test environments
- Hands-on skillset debugging in lab spaces with oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, and other electrical test equipment
- Experience using diagnostic and protocol analysis tools such as Saleae Logic Analyzers, Wireshark, PEAK-System CAN interfaces, or similar
- Understanding of software/hardware interfaces, networking, and electrical bus protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/422/485, MIL-STD-1553)
- Experience leading and troubleshooting LRU-, subsystem-, and system-level integration and bring-up of electrical systems, harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Experience designing harnesses, breakout boxes, simple PCBs, and switching mechanisms
- Knowledge of safe lab practices with power, batteries, and ESD
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and engineering documentation
- Experience developing configuration management processes for LRUs/harnesses and test tools such as logging, diagnostics, and debug utilities
- Strong debugging skills and ability to troubleshoot issues across software and hardware boundaries
- Ability to understand and contribute to HITL and test software frameworks
- Familiarity with Python, C++, Linux, Github, and Jira
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly in a fast-paced development environment
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
