LatchBio is advancing humanity's ability to engineer biology by improving AI's application to biology use cases such as therapeutics and biosecurity. The company combines engineers, scientists, and operations specialists focused on improving capabilities and interpretability. In this Infrastructure Engineer role focused on AI Enablement, you will own developer experience and operations as your primary area of focus (expected to take less than 50% of engineering time initially, but a key passion area). You'll work on a broad range of infrastructure challenges including agent infrastructure and orchestration, ML infrastructure, model benchmarking at scale, full-stack web development, developer and user experience, and process optimization. Technical domains span container orchestration, sandboxing, distributed filesystems, cloud architecture, and database systems. You'll be expected to be a strong overall engineer with a knack for improving the productivity of those around you through tools and systems—particularly ones that trade LLM tokens to reclaim human time. You should be comfortable showing engineers better ways to work and getting adoption through demos, documentation, and pairing rather than mandates. The role is based in the San Francisco office with close collaboration across science, partnerships, operations, and engineering teams. The company operates with two key meetings per week plus ad hoc sessions as needed. Work is busy with a flexible schedule; the company doesn't track when you're online and offers unlimited PTO. Success is measured by shipping projects well, on time, or early. The culture emphasizes radical transparency, respect, and solutions-oriented problem-solving. The team values innovation and output over hours worked. The company sponsors regular outings, team off-sites, and social activities including a run club, cycling, boxing, ice skating, and soccer. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: - AI-native engineer: you use AI coding agents daily and have built tooling, workflows, or integrations that made them more effective for a whole team, not just yourself - Strong software engineering: 3+ years writing production code in Python, Go, or TypeScript; ability to get productive in unfamiliar codebases quickly - Developer tools builder: demonstrated experience building internal tools or developer-experience improvements that other engineers actually adopted - DevOps fluency: hands-on experience with CI/CD, AWS or GCP, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code (career SRE background not required, but ability to own the pipeline is essential) - Teacher and evangelist: ability to demonstrate better ways of working and secure adoption through demos, documentation, and pairing
