Salary: USD 140,000 - 180,000 / annual
Harbinger is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company transforming the medium-duty EV and hybrid market. The company is seeking a Systems Engineer to own the reliability, scalability, and performance of end-to-end infrastructure spanning the factory floor and datacenter.
You will build, manage, and support infrastructure across manufacturing operations and core datacenter systems, including edge devices such as production compute, MES stations, and networked IoT equipment (connected tools, PDCs, HMIs). You will champion an Infrastructure as Code culture using tools like Ansible, Terraform, Chef, or Puppet to eliminate manual toil and automate provisioning, configuration, and deployments.
Key responsibilities include implementing and managing GitOps workflows for infrastructure delivery while applying SRE principles to ensure 24/7 availability and robust system performance. You will design and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for proactive issue identification and rapid incident response. You will participate in on-call rotations to support business continuity and system stability, and work on-site to manage physical datacenter and factory-floor edge hardware in close collaboration with local engineering and manufacturing teams.
This role requires a builder mentality and comfort working alongside factory technicians on the production floor as well as with infrastructure diagrams and automation playbooks. You should be as comfortable troubleshooting complex cross-platform issues—from physical layer faults to application-level performance bottlenecks—as you are implementing enterprise infrastructure solutions.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, endpoint management, or infrastructure operations
- Deep expertise in Linux and Windows
- Strong hands-on experience with virtualization and containerization
- Solid understanding of networking, including switching, firewalls, and wireless
- Datacenter hardware knowledge (power/cooling)
- Familiarity with factory/OT edge devices—MES stations, networked tools, PDCs, HMIs and the networks connecting them to IT infrastructure
- Proven proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet)
- Experience implementing GitOps workflows and SRE best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot complex cross-platform issues
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in an on-site, cross-functional environment
- Builder mentality with bias toward hands-on ownership and eliminating manual toil
- Available for on-call rotations and on-site support as required
