Telnyx is building the future of global connectivity through a private, multi-cloud IP network and hyperlocal edge technology. The company is financially stable and profitable, investing in pioneering technologies and fostering continuous learning.
In this Infrastructure Engineer role, you will deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters across multiple cloud providers and edge locations. You'll build and maintain networking infrastructure connecting and isolating edge systems, including VPNs, routing, network policies, and firewalls. You'll own infrastructure automation for cluster provisioning, configuration, upgrades, and recovery using Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible.
Key responsibilities include building and operating secure runtime environments for customer workloads (containers, microVMs, ephemeral sandboxed workloads), improving cluster reliability and observability as the platform scales, and building Prometheus metrics and alerting for infrastructure monitoring. You'll harden workload and network isolation, define security boundaries for running untrusted customer code, and participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot issues across Linux, containers, Kubernetes, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes operations, and networking. You'll work across multiple cloud providers and edge locations, balancing reliability, security, and scalability as the platform grows.
**Requirements:**
- 1–3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience in production, including cluster-level operations and troubleshooting
- Strong Linux and container fundamentals
- Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, NAT, routing)
- Infrastructure-as-code and automation experience with Terraform/OpenTofu and Ansible
- Experience with at least one major cloud provider and understanding of cloud networking, compute, and storage
- Ability to diagnose production issues across multiple infrastructure stack layers
- Security mindset: understanding of attack surfaces, tenant isolation, and safely running untrusted workloads
**Nice to Have:**
- Multi-cloud or multi-region Kubernetes operations
- Kubernetes networking and CNI implementations (Calico)
- Firecracker, Kata Containers, or microVM/container isolation technologies
- Container runtime experience (containerd, cgroups, namespaces, seccomp)
- Knative or serverless infrastructure
- Ephemeral compute, sandboxing, CI runners, or user-code execution platforms
- BGP, WireGuard, or software-defined networking
- Rancher/RKE2 experience
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) experience
- Go or Python for infrastructure tooling
