Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following a $200M Series B at a $1.4B valuation, the company is expanding teams to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces.
You will own industrial vision inspection across production lines, from roadmap and qualification to integration on automated and manual stations. This is a greenfield role: you will establish standards rather than inherit them, and see your programs running on a defense production line within weeks. You will work hand-in-hand with Industrialization & Automation, Quality, and Production teams as production ramps up, turning today's manual controls into robust inline inspections.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and own the industrial vision roadmap across production lines, defending associated investments
- Audit existing cameras and programs, establishing baseline escape and false reject rates
- Develop and deploy vision programs on real parts, tuning optics, lighting, thresholds, and Edge Learning tools
- Integrate vision on automated stations with the automation team, including triggering, PLC/IO handshake, and robot guidance
- Deploy standalone camera programs on manual stations with scripting and tooling
- Define and run qualification frameworks (IQ/OQ/PQ) and trace inspections into control plans
- Maintain versioned, backed-up program libraries with clear documentation
- Review rejected images daily with production, separating real defects from false rejects
- Partner with R&D on design for inspectability and with Manufacturing Systems Engineering and IT on data and network handling
REQUIREMENTS:
- Engineering degree or equivalent with strong academic record
- 2+ years of practical industrial vision experience in a production environment (automotive, electronics, aerospace, medtech, or vision integrator)
- Proficiency with at least one industrial vision platform or library
- Scripting skills and automation exposure (PLC or robot experience)
- Data-driven approach to managing false rejects and escapes; understanding that optics and lighting drive results
- Curiosity about assembly (PCBA, solder joints, connectors)
- Ability to build plans and standards from scratch in greenfield environments and defend investment cases
- Shop floor pragmatism: designs for operators and shift reality, favors robust over elegant solutions, works autonomously
- Excellent written and verbal communication in French and English
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders from operators to senior leadership
- Security clearance may be required
- 100% commitment to Harmattan AI's mission and growth plans
