As Head of Software, you will own the technical direction and align it with business objectives, making strategic calls on when to take big bets and what to prioritize. You will drive technical developments that solve customers' hardest problems from architecture through release. You will scale and lead the Platform Engineering function, including CI/CD, observability, edge compute, and cloud cost management. You will hire and develop the leadership layer reporting to you, set the operating cadence, and ensure the team meets commitment dates that engineering, product, and sales can plan against. You will own the software side of Lumafield's security and compliance posture, including SBOM, vulnerability response, customer security reviews, and compliance controls.
The role requires deep experience leading multi-level software engineering organizations at a startup, including managing managers through at least one phase change in company size or product maturity. You must have owned a production SaaS platform end-to-end: uptime, on-call, release engineering, and infrastructure costs. You need real depth in cloud infrastructure and DevOps—deep enough to review platform designs, reject bad ones, and explain company-level tradeoffs. You understand the requirements for deploying solutions in both cloud and on-premises environments, with performance and reliability as proactive motions. You define what done means, unblock the team, and are well-versed in Radical Candor. You thrive in startups, stay highly engaged, control chaos, rally during crunch time, and work well through ambiguity.
Bonus qualifications include experience with FedRAMP, ITAR/CMMC, or other regulated deployment environments where compliance is on the critical path to revenue, and background in 3D data, imaging, visualization, or metrology software (voxels, meshes, large-file pipelines, GPU rendering in the browser).
Lumafield offers competitive cash and equity compensation, health & wellness stipend, 401k, parental leave, flexible PTO, commuter benefits, and company-wide events.
