Tutor Intelligence is an AI robotics company deploying general-purpose robots into real-world facilities and manufacturing environments. You will serve as Head of Engineering, running the operational side of the engineering organization as a strategic partner to the CTO. While the CTO sets technical direction and leads longer-term strategic bets, you own the day-to-day execution: roadmap prioritization, hiring and team growth, organizational structure, performance management, and engineering processes.
The engineering team currently comprises approximately 35 engineers across software and hardware disciplines and is expected to grow substantially. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the broader leadership team to align engineering priorities with business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and set quarterly engineering roadmap, ensuring delivery against business outcomes
- Lead recruiting efforts and build the engineering organization as the company scales
- Establish team structure, manage performance, and develop engineering leaders
- Design and evolve engineering processes with emphasis on speed, AI integration, and ease of execution
- Partner with the CTO on technical direction and with leadership on strategic priorities

Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience leading an engineering organization through significant growth
- Experience running both software and hardware engineering, or software engineering at a hardware-shipping company
- Track record of close collaboration with technical founders or CTOs
- Strong operational skills: planning, hiring, and managing teams effectively
- Ability to integrate AI into engineering processes and support engineers working with AI

- Background in robotics, manufacturing, or field-deployed products
- Experience scaling an engineering organization from tens to hundreds of engineers
