Salary: USD 98,000 - 130,000 / annual

As a Hardware Test Engineer (Laser/Camera Test focus), you will own test activities in production and ensure stringent quality standards for shipped systems. You'll troubleshoot complex infrared systems issues, maintain test capabilities across the manufacturing value stream from system-level checkouts to component-level validation, and generate test work instructions for technician teams. Key responsibilities include developing test automation software, performing root cause analysis on product failures, analyzing test data to identify defects, and collaborating with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams on customer returns and failure analysis.
You will maintain and calibrate test equipment, support early-stage product testing (NPI), optimize test strategies for efficiency, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires creative problem-solving on fast-paced, highly technical, interdisciplinary teams and effective cross-team communication to resolve production issues quickly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience with emphasis on manufacturing test and product sustainment
- Experience with data acquisition and processing using MATLAB, Python, and other programming languages
- Experience with test automation and report generation
- Strong root cause analysis skills for non-conforming hardware, software, and firmware
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Experience integrating electrical, opto-mechanical, and software/firmware systems
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of infrared systems, including performance requirements and verification methodologies
- Experience with cryogenic testing equipment
- Familiarity with test equipment: power supplies, electronic loads, thermal chambers, function generators, spectrum analyzers, data acquisition and measurement sensors
- Experience with computer hardware communication protocols: USB, Ethernet, RS232, RS485, PCIe, HDMI, CAN, etc.
