Salary: USD 120,000 - 165,000 / annual
Arista Networks is seeking a Hardware NPI (New Product Introduction) / Debug Engineer to bridge design engineering and manufacturing for next-generation data center networking hardware. This hybrid role in Santa Clara focuses on delivering early prototypes to large data center customers while maintaining high quality standards in production releases.
You will own end-to-end prototype builds in partnership with Hardware, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams, rapidly maturing designs and manufacturing processes to yield field trial-ready units. The role involves leading complex systems debug and root-cause analysis, establishing technical foundations for future senior engineering roles. You will drive Design for Excellence (DFM, DFT, DFQ, DFR) by reviewing schematics and layouts, translating real-world NPI findings into more robust product generations.
Arista's product portfolio spans compact 1RU switches to massive modular chassis, integrating high-density PCBs, advanced interconnects, high-performance ASICs, and sophisticated thermal management. You will work with intricate optical and flyover cable assemblies, requiring exceptional technical acumen to manage complexities in next-generation networking hardware.
Key responsibilities include strategic collaboration with internal Engineering and Platform Design teams, mentoring Contract Manufacturing partners to uphold production and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement through cross-functional partnerships. This role offers a fast track to understanding core products in AI data center switching fabric and the processes necessary to fabricate, manufacture, and test these systems.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSEE degree required; MSEE degree strongly desired
- 3–5+ years of experience in Hardware, NPI, Sustaining, and/or Test Engineering within Networking, AI, GPU, or Computing industries
- Expertise in system-level debugging, root cause analysis, and proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
- Electrical design experience highly desired
- Knowledge of industry manufacturing standards (IPC, JEDEC) and experience with complex Fab structures (VIPPO, backdrill) and electro/mechanical systems
- Solid foundation in electrical engineering; mechanical aptitude highly desirable
- Must be passport ready and able to travel to Mexico, Malaysia, and Vietnam CM sites
- English fluency required; Spanish and/or Vietnamese fluency desired
- Technical fluency in interpreting schematics, board layout files, mechanical drawings, and datasheets
- Ability to read command-line logs and diagnostics independently
- Self-starting mindset with ability to drive improvements in efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with remote and HQ engineers and factory-level technical staff
