Cresta is an AI platform that combines conversational AI agents, real-time human agent augmentation, and conversation intelligence to drive revenue and efficiency across customer service channels. The company was founded by leaders from Google's Contact Center AI and has raised over $270M from top-tier investors including a16z, Greylock, and Sequoia.
As Growth Engineer, you will own the technical systems behind Cresta's web presence and marketing AI initiatives. This is a high-agency role where you architect and build end-to-end, with ownership spanning web platform development, AI agent creation, and GTM integration.
Key responsibilities include:
**Web Platform:** Own cresta.com's technical architecture, including how content flows and integrates with the broader stack. Set the technical vision for website evolution and CMS strategy (currently Webflow-based). Partner with brand and design to architect interactive experiences and maintain a consistent component system. Own instrumentation where the website meets the GTM stack—forms, gated content, event tracking, and attribution—ensuring clean data flow downstream. Build the technical foundation for localization as the company scales internationally, including locale routing, URL architecture, and hreflang implementation. Establish engineering practices that enable rapid shipping without breaking things. Ship technical work behind SEO and AEO programs.
**AI Agent Creation:** Develop, configure, deploy, and optimize AI agents on Cresta's platform for marketing use cases. Take agents from prototype to production, including evaluation criteria, guardrails, and human review steps. Provide tight feedback loops to product and engineering teams, identifying gaps and influencing the roadmap based on real-world deployment learnings.
You will be the deepest technical voice on a non-engineering team, scoping ambiguous requests and explaining tradeoffs to marketers. This role requires self-direction, the ability to learn unfamiliar domains quickly, and ownership mentality—treating outcomes as yours even when inheriting technical debt.
**Requirements:**
- 7+ years in software development, web development, AI/ML engineering, or growth engineering
- Strong full-stack capabilities: application code, APIs, data, and infrastructure in Python, TypeScript, Node, or similar
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts; hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs) and prompt engineering strongly preferred
- Proven track record of learning domains quickly and becoming the go-to expert
- High agency: define your own work, ship without direction, treat gaps as yours to close
- Strong understanding of AI agent frameworks, function calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Comfortable as the deepest technical voice on a non-engineering team
- Ownership mindset
**Nice to have:**
- Experience owning a marketing website
- Technical SEO and AEO experience grounded in testing
- Marketing and GTM systems integration experience (HubSpot, Salesforce, Marketo, Segment, GA4, GTM)
