Xona Space Systems is seeking a GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) engineer to join the product team. The company is developing Pulsar, an advanced satellite-based positioning and navigation infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit designed to provide centimeter-level precision positioning globally.
In this role, you will conduct deep-dive technical analyses on cutting-edge timing and positioning systems, with a focus on LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit Positioning and Navigation Technology) applications. You will design and execute live-sky test campaigns to demonstrate Pulsar capabilities, support time-sensitive novel analyses, and contribute to technical documentation and white papers. The position involves both theoretical research and hands-on experimental work, including lab-based signal validation and field testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and conducting live-sky test campaigns showcasing Pulsar capabilities
- Executing time-sensitive LEO PNT-related analyses to support company objectives
- Preparing technical resources and materials related to PULSAR-based positioning and navigation
- Contributing to white papers, internal reports, and detailed technical documentation on GNSS research topics
- Communicating findings through written reports and verbal presentations to internal and external stakeholders
You will work in a dynamic, research-driven environment with shifting technical priorities, taking initiative on complex problems and producing detailed, standalone research. The role requires both independent work and effective collaboration within a team setting.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong background in GNSS systems engineering, including measurement and position engine development
- Experience with theoretical analysis of GNSS performance in various environments using Python, C, C++, or MATLAB
- Hands-on experience with GNSS test equipment and lab-based signal validation
- Availability to support occasional rapid-turnaround technical assessments
- Comfort operating in dynamic, research-driven environments with shifting priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with project management principles
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience working in GNSS
- Practical experience with Linux-based systems
- Experience writing and presenting technical content to internal and external stakeholders
- Prior experience with GNSS timing and UTC traceability
- Experience with precision GNSS corrections modeling and application
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on targeted research projects
- Strong project management and collaboration skills
- Experience with hardware testing, including field testing and GNSS simulators
