Turnitin is seeking a Global Financial Controller to lead the global accounting function across all geographies and verticals. This is a strategic executive role reporting to the CFO, responsible for delivering highly effective and efficient accounting services spanning financial operations, reporting, tax, treasury, compliance, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to elevate the Global Accounting function into a center of excellence, designing organizational structures and capacity models for scalability.
- Lead and mentor high-performing teams across all core accounting and operational pillars, fostering continuous capability building and engagement.
- Drive end-to-end global accounting strategy and execution across Statutory Reporting, Audit, Payroll, Treasury, Compliance, and Tax operations.
- Partner with the Chief Leadership Team to establish robust corporate governance frameworks and deploy industry best practices.
- Champion global compliance strategy, standardizing SOPs, policies, and internal controls to mitigate operational risk across diverse markets.
- Direct risk management audits in collaboration with internal and external audit partners (KPMG, Advance Accounting) to maintain clean audit outcomes.
- Deliver timely, data-informed financial insights and board-level reporting to support strategic decisions.
- Innovate and optimize internal control frameworks, leveraging automation and modern finance tools.
- Spearhead M&A integration across regional finance operations and enterprise system architectures.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that modernize processes and drive operational efficiency.
- Manage global departmental budgets, maximizing ROI on finance investments and technology tools.
- Serve as a trusted strategic thought partner to the CFO on transformational initiatives and enterprise financial strategy.
- Evaluate and implement AI tools and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiencies across global finance processes.

Requirements:
Essential:
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership with specific experience navigating US business operations and leading global, distributed teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) paired with CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional credential.
- Deep expertise in US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition across multi-jurisdiction environments.
- Strong working knowledge of US domestic and international tax accounting principles.
- Proven track record in spearheading finance system modernization, automation, and agile operational workflows.
- Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and deliver high-impact outcomes across complex, multi-threaded priorities under tight timelines.
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable business stories for executive leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
- Sharp business acumen to partner seamlessly with operational leaders and influence strategic choices.
- Ability to connect big-picture strategy with tactical execution, leveraging data insights to navigate change.
