Turnitin is seeking a Global Financial Controller to lead the global accounting function across 35+ countries. This is a strategic executive role reporting to the CFO, responsible for delivering highly effective and efficient accounting services spanning all geographies and verticals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to elevate the Global Accounting function into a forward-thinking center of excellence
- Architect organizational design and capacity models to ensure agile, scalable finance capability
- Cultivate and mentor high-performing teams across all core accounting and operational pillars
- Drive end-to-end global accounting strategy and execution across Statutory Reporting, Audit, Payroll, Treasury, Compliance, and Tax operations
- Partner with C-level leadership to establish robust corporate governance frameworks and deploy industry best practices
- Champion global compliance strategy, standardizing SOPs, policies, and internal controls across diverse markets
- Direct risk management audits in collaboration with internal risk advisory groups
- Oversee external and internal financial audit engagements to maintain clean audit outcomes
- Deliver timely, data-informed financial insights and board-level reporting to support strategic decisions
- Innovate and optimize internal control frameworks, leveraging automation and modern finance tools
- Spearhead M&A integration across regional finance operations and enterprise system architectures
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that modernize processes and drive high-engagement culture
- Manage global departmental budgets and maximize ROI on finance investments and technology tools
- Serve as trusted strategic thought partner to the CFO on transformational initiatives and enterprise financial strategy
- Evaluate and implement AI tools and emerging technologies to drive operational efficiencies across global finance

Requirements:
Essential:
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, with specific experience navigating US business operations
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) paired with CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional credential
- Deep expertise in US/Global GAAP and ASC revenue recognition across multi-jurisdiction environments
- Strong working knowledge of US domestic and international tax accounting principles
- Proven track record in spearheading finance system modernization, automation, and agile operational workflows
- Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and deliver high-impact outcomes across complex, multi-threaded priorities under tight timelines
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable business stories for executive leaders and non-technical stakeholders
- Sharp business acumen to partner seamlessly with operational leaders and influence strategic choices
- Ability to connect big-picture strategy with tactical execution, leveraging data insights
- Demonstrated success leading, mentoring, and inspiring remote and global distributed finance teams
