Salary: CAD 100,000 - 127,998 / annual
Stream powers real-time Chat, Video, Activity Feeds, and AI Moderation for over 1 billion end users across 4,000+ apps including Strava, Bumble, eBay, and Patreon. The platform processes billions of API requests monthly and supports applications with millions of concurrent users.
You'll join a five-person Moderation team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer, owning the backend of Stream's AI Moderation product. The role is backend-focused: you'll build new capabilities and make the Go services cleaner, faster, and more reliable. Dedicated frontend engineers own the moderation dashboards; you'll own the Go services, data model, and integrations behind them, stepping into React when features span the stack.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and shipping Go services from database schema through production rollout, including work on the new AI moderation flow
- Refactoring existing moderation services, reducing technical debt, and simplifying code paths
- Strengthening alerting, observability, and fixing scaling/latency issues in the moderation pipeline
- Maintaining and extending AI and moderation provider integrations
- Diagnosing defects to root cause and participating in on-call (with focus on North American hours)
- Troubleshooting customer issues and bringing learnings back to the roadmap
- Shipping React changes alongside frontend engineers and reviewing peer code
The product has grown fast; there's real cleanup and refactoring to do, and you'll have room to do it well. You'll also provide North American hours coverage, which currently rests largely on one engineer. You'll work closely with the team lead, another Toronto-based engineer, Infrastructure, and Customer Success teams.
