Cardboard is building the future of video editing and storytelling. The company runs a real video editor in the browser, backed by a serious cloud media pipeline and an AI agent that understands footage. They are backed by Tier-1 global investors, YC, and founders of billion-dollar companies.
As a Fullstack Engineer, you will own features end-to-end, from the pixel a user clicks in the editor all the way down to the service that renders it. You'll work across the entire stack without hesitation and ship things that work.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and ship features across the full stack, from the browser-based editor to backend services
- Tackle genuinely hard browser problems: real-time editing, smooth playback, and handling large media files on the client
- Help shape the AI editing experience that enables the agent to make real edits
- Keep the product fast and reliable, even on large, demanding projects
- Own problems end-to-end in a fast-moving environment
The team is small, moves quickly, and cares obsessively about taste in design, product, and every detail. You'll work alongside founders and engineers who all care deeply about craft.
Requirements:
- Strong engineering fundamentals and real experience owning features end-to-end
- Comfortable moving across the full stack: frontend, backend, and infrastructure. Comfortable with complex queries, render workers, and tricky browser state management
- Obsessed with quality and performance; you notice when something feels janky and fix it
- Thrive in a fast-moving, lightly-processed environment where you set your own bar
- Bonus: experience with media/video processing, real-time or offline-first systems, or building on top of LLMs
