Reveal Technology is a defense and national security startup founded in 2019, providing software tools and intelligence platforms for field operations in remote, disconnected, and extreme environments. The company's flagship products include Farsight (3D processing and mission planning), Identifi (secure identity verification), Chronos, and Anomaly 6, serving defense, security, and public safety missions where precision and reliability are critical.
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will own the evolution of core web applications, underlying infrastructure, and APIs that empower users in disconnected, low-bandwidth, and offline environments. This role bridges high-availability cloud infrastructure with mission-critical mobile applications operating at the tactical edge. You will solve complex data serialization and synchronization challenges, engineer seamless integrations with external enterprise and tactical systems, and ensure mobile apps have a rock-solid, highly secure backend for authentication and sync.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain robust, responsive frontends using React with exceptional performance, usability, and reliability
- Design, build, and maintain high-performance APIs using Ruby on Rails, ensuring reliability and maintainability for web, desktop, and mobile clients in challenging environments
- Own data architecture through advanced PostgreSQL data modeling, complex schema migrations, query optimization, and indexing strategies
- Manage and scale containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes; leverage Terraform for infrastructure as code
- Continuously harden and optimize CI/CD pipelines to boost developer velocity and system stability
- Foster engineering excellence through production-ready, thoroughly tested code and rigorous peer reviews
- Collaborate across teams to troubleshoot complex technical escalations and support critical field operations
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional full-stack experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade applications at scale
- AI-native development: passionate early adopter of AI-powered development tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor); integrated AI deeply into daily workflow
- Expert backend and database architecture: deep expertise in Ruby (Rails or similar), SQL, scalable service design, data modeling, complex schema migrations, and query optimization
- Advanced React architecture: deep proficiency in modern React, complex application state management, and frontend performance optimization for high-concurrency apps
- Production PostgreSQL at scale: deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals, advanced indexing, query execution plans, transaction management, and performance tuning
- DevOps and infrastructure as code: hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD pipeline ownership, and safe production deployments
- Asynchronous autonomy and execution: proven ability to manage productivity and maintain high feature velocity in fully remote, asynchronous environments; proactive communicator who unblocks self and provides clear visibility
Nice to Haves:
- Prior experience developing secure, high-availability software for DoD, first responders, or public safety agencies
- Hands-on experience with Team Awareness Kit (TAK) ecosystem (ATAK, WinTAK, CivTAK), real-time geospatial data flows, and low-latency tactical architectures
- Exposure to secure ingestion, processing, and storage of biometric data; familiarity with privacy regulations, encryption standards, and EBTS requirements
- Fast-paced startup experience demonstrating ability to thrive amidst technical ambiguity
- Proven success architecting APIs for mobile clients with versioning, secure data exchange, offline synchronization, and low-bandwidth performance
- Experience incorporating LLMs and AI systems into production backend workflows
- Reading proficiency in Kotlin, C++, C#, or Python for cross-platform integrations or legacy refactoring
