ElevenLabs is a $22B-valued AI research and product company founded in January 2023, now serving millions of users and thousands of businesses including Deutsche Telekom and Meta. The company has raised $781M from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, ICONIQ Growth, and Sequoia.
The Core Platform team builds foundational systems that every other team at ElevenLabs depends on: user management, workspaces, permissions, and resource access. These systems sit on the path of every request and are relied upon by millions of users and enterprise customers, making correctness, security, and safe rollout as critical as speed.
You will join one of two focus areas:
**Workspaces & User Management (serving external customers):** Build and improve customer-facing building blocks including API keys, login experience, analytics, admin tooling, and workspace security. Work closely with Sales, Field Development Engineers, and customer teams to translate enterprise and self-serve feedback into product improvements. Ship customer-facing features end-to-end, from backend services to admin and settings UI.
**Permissions & Resources (serving ElevenLabs engineering teams):** Design and build generic resource and permissioning services that product teams use to build features safely and quickly. Solve large-scale, largely greenfield problems—for example, how a customer with a million agents assigns and manages access. Drive adoption across product teams with changes that don't require rework.
In both roles, you will scope work within a large existing system, understanding what exists and what could go wrong on rollout. You'll roll out changes safely with minimal disruption, debug and operate what you build from customer reports and logs, and own features from scoping to completion with mentorship from experienced engineers. The company culture emphasizes high velocity, impact over job titles, AI-first thinking, and excellence everywhere.
The team is based across the UK, EU, and US with offices in Dublin, London, New York, San Francisco, and Warsaw. You can work fully remote or from any of these offices.
**Requirements:**
- Expertise in Python
- Strong background in backend development, with comfort working across the stack where needed
- Experience with common software and system design patterns and infrastructure (APIs, cloud infrastructure tools, storage solutions, data structures)
- Strong test design and security fundamentals
- Care and attention to detail when changing live, business-critical systems, and ability to learn large existing codebases quickly
- Comfort with ambiguity: working out what should be built and prioritizing among competing signals
**Bonus:**
- Experience with authentication, authorization, or permissioning (OAuth, SSO/SCIM, RBAC, or similar)
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience building internal platforms or services used by other engineering teams
No formal experience, certifications, or degrees required; the company seeks engineers who can demonstrate they have solved impressively hard problems through past projects or GitHub contributions.
