Katalyze AI is building AI-powered applications for scientists and engineers in biopharma manufacturing. In this role, you'll develop full-stack features across the Katalyze platform, focusing on applications that help experts ask questions of their records, verify sources, and act on answers with full traceability.
You'll work on three main areas: (1) building the review screens where experts examine what the AI agents assembled and verify sources; (2) developing the backend services and APIs that power the platform; and (3) integrating with existing manufacturing systems like MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), and quality management platforms.
A core requirement of everything built is traceability—experts must be able to see exactly where each answer came from and who signed off on it. This means designing data models and APIs that maintain complete audit trails.
You'll join a small engineering team based in Toronto, working closely with AI and deployment specialists. You'll ship frequently, participate in customer calls and site visits to understand how the product is used in real manufacturing environments, and own features from initial commit through production. Responsibilities include building end-to-end features in TypeScript and React on the frontend with Python on the backend, designing review interfaces and APIs, connecting to customer systems, maintaining platform performance and security, and contributing to code review and testing practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Four or more years building web applications in production
- Proficiency across frontend, backend, and data layers
- Strong TypeScript and React skills
- Working experience with Python
- Experience designing APIs and relational data models (ideally Postgres)
- Clear writing and bias toward shipping
- Interest in the science behind the work
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with regulated software or audit trail systems
- Experience building products on top of language models or search
- Familiarity with AWS, Docker, and infrastructure as code
