Eventual is a well-funded, seed-stage fintech startup addressing American housing unaffordability through home insurance innovation. The company has built AI-powered insurance prediction models trained on tens of millions of US home insurance policy renewals, enabling a unique 3-year price guarantee for homeowners. Eventual reimburses customers if their insurance costs exceed predicted prices, delivering multi-year predictability in a market where prices have risen dramatically. The company operates in 37 US states with thousands of insurance agent distributors and is experiencing exponential revenue growth.
The founding engineering team is small (12 professionals) and based in-person in NYC and LA, with backgrounds from Blackstone, Citadel, Waymo, Google, and early-stage fintech startups. The company has raised $7.5M in funding.
As a Founding Engineer, you will build and ship across the full stack, working closely with design, data science, and product teams to deliver features end-to-end. You'll own the complete lifecycle from backend APIs and data pipelines to frontend interfaces used by customers daily.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs using FastAPI and PostgreSQL
- Develop frontend components and flows in Next.js and Tailwind
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, accessible interfaces
- Integrate with external services including Stripe, Auth0, and Canopy Connect
- Own features end-to-end: design, build, test, deploy, and support
- Help shape engineering practices and architecture as the team scales
This is a high-ownership role with real impact on a live product serving thousands of customers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software
- Comfortable working across the stack, or strong in one area with willingness to stretch
- Solid fundamentals in Python and/or TypeScript or equivalent
- Experience with relational databases and clean API design
- Works well with autonomy and takes ownership over end-to-end delivery
- Bonus: experience at an early-stage company or on a 0→1 product
