OnArrival is building technology infrastructure that powers next-generation travel experiences. The company enables fintechs, banks, consumer brands, and digital businesses to embed travel into their products through APIs, SDKs, and intelligent infrastructure.
You will join the Founder's Office as a hands-on engineer working directly with the CTO and Co-founder. This is not a project management or coordination role—it is a technical position where you write code, build prototypes, and own projects from concept to deployment.
Key responsibilities:
• Build and ship production-quality code and working prototypes. Personally own engineering projects from concept through deployment.
• Experiment with LLMs, AI agents, orchestration frameworks, and emerging technologies. Work across APIs, backend systems, integrations, SDKs, and occasionally frontend applications.
• Debug complex technical problems, investigate issues, and propose practical solutions. Use modern AI coding tools to accelerate development.
• Participate directly in the CTO's technical initiatives, architecture discussions, design reviews, and strategic decision-making. Translate early-stage ideas into working solutions.
• Represent the CTO in engineering discussions, technical reviews, and partner conversations. Bridge communication between the CTO and various engineering initiatives.
• Take on experimental or high-impact initiatives that don't naturally belong to existing teams. Build proof-of-concepts to validate new product ideas and technical approaches.
• Explore platform improvements, architectural changes, performance optimization, and developer productivity. Collaborate with different engineering pods.
• Stay ahead of developments in AI engineering, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, and software architecture. Identify opportunities to simplify systems and improve engineering velocity.
You will work on a mix of activities: one day building an AI agent, the next exploring backend architecture, debugging integrations, or representing the CTO in technical discussions. Success means independently shipping meaningful projects, becoming a trusted technical extension of the CTO, and freeing up the CTO's bandwidth without introducing unnecessary overhead.
Requirements:
• 3–5 years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong programming ability in at least one modern backend or full-stack language: Kotlin, Java, TypeScript, Python, or Go.
• Solid understanding of APIs, distributed systems, databases, and modern backend architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Comfortable with Git, CI/CD, debugging, deployment, and engineering workflows.
• Familiarity with LLMs, AI development tools, and modern AI-assisted software engineering.
• Ability to independently build, test, deploy, and demonstrate working solutions.
• Broad technical curiosity and ability to learn unfamiliar stacks quickly.
• Exceptional ownership and high agency—you figure things out and get them done without constant direction.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex technical ideas to engineers, business stakeholders, and external partners.
• Structured thinking to break complex, loosely defined problems into manageable solutions.
• Confidence to challenge assumptions and engage with senior technical stakeholders.
• Resourcefulness and discretion.
Bonus: experience in early-stage or rapidly scaling startups, founding engineer background, experience with AI agents, MCP, developer tooling, LLM-powered applications, travel technology, fintech, APIs, embedded platforms, or close work with founders and CTOs.
