You will build, develop, and lead a team of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) who work at the frontier of what Lovable can do, solving complex technical problems across frontend, backend, and AI systems. This is a hands-on leadership role—you'll design, write, and ship production code alongside your team while remaining deeply involved in the craft. Your team will partner directly with Lovable's most ambitious customers to turn ideas into real products and identify what should become part of the core platform.
As one of a small group of FDE leaders, you'll set the technical bar for the function and help define how it scales globally, including engineering standards, ways of working, customer partnerships, and collaboration with core product teams. You'll work across the full spectrum: writing code, making architectural decisions, leading engineers, and engaging with senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include: building and developing a high-performing FDE team; working directly with customers to understand workflows and technical challenges; designing, prototyping, and implementing solutions; owning complex technical engagements end-to-end from discovery through shipping; setting technical standards through architecture decisions and code reviews; translating customer insights into platform improvements; and shaping the FDE function's engineering standards and playbooks as it scales.
The tech stack includes Golang and Rust for backend, React and TypeScript for frontend, and cloud infrastructure on Cloudflare, GCP, and AWS with multiple LLM providers. The company culture emphasizes extreme ownership, high velocity, low-ego collaboration, and shipping fast.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 12+ years across software engineering, technical architecture, and customer-facing engineering
- Experience leading and developing high-performing technical teams
- Track record of remaining deeply hands-on as leadership scope has grown
- Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals: React and TypeScript (frontend), robust backend development
- Strong architectural thinking and familiarity with distributed systems
- Experience owning complex technical engagements end-to-end
- Exceptional product intuition and ability to work directly with users
- Ability to move comfortably between writing code, making architectural decisions, leading engineers, and working with senior stakeholders
- Comfort operating with high ambiguity, agency, and velocity
BONUS EXPERIENCE:
- Scaled a team or technical function from zero
- Worked on agentic AI systems or built with LLMs in production
- Led zero-to-one product development
- Worked in founding or early startup environment
- Experience across high-growth startups, big tech, consulting, or enterprise AI
