Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI at unprecedented speed and scale. The company acquires power, designs and builds data centers, and operates them across hardware and software teams. The mission is to deploy 10s to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. As a Forward Deployed Engineer on the Infrastructure Development & Delivery team, you will own end-to-end software systems that automate the delivery of gigawatts of compute. You'll work on several key problem areas: **Core Responsibilities:** - Build scheduling systems that run the portfolio: create template schedules per building type, instantiate them per project, tie every activity to materials it consumes, and automatically generate need-by dates for critical components like switchgear and transformers. A permitting slip should reprice the procurement calendar the same hour. - Turn construction sites into structured data: work packages, contractor field entries, rack placements, cable runs, and QA inspections become records tied to design revisions. Percent complete is computed from evidence, not reported on calls. - Ship change orders as workflow automation, not email chains: scope, cost, and schedule impact are drafted from design deltas, routed through legal and finance with approval trails, and the bill of materials and schedule update automatically upon signature. - Make design the source of truth: ingest building information models into the bill of materials with reviewable diffs on every revision, generate submittal requirements per spec section, and maintain one canonical record for sites, buildings, and data halls. - Ship commissioning as software: generate test procedures per asset from design revisions, land results as evidence against tested assets, implement energization gates that self-check, and enable handover on proof rather than signatures. You'll work in an environment that values autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and shipping things that matter. You'll sit alongside quality managers, sourcing leads, and deployment engineers on factory floors and sites, turning their judgment into systems that scale across dozens of concurrent projects. **Requirements:** - Shipped production code in Go, Python, or TypeScript; ability to pick up whatever language the problem demands - Built real features on LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-weight models), MCP servers, and agentic frameworks - Work daily with AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor; experience getting agents to do useful work autonomously - Identify problems, design solutions, and ship without waiting for direction or approval - Track record of moving fast under deadline while leaving foundations other engineers can extend - Earned credibility with people who build physical things (construction leads, field engineers, schedulers, commissioning agents) and driven software adoption within their real deadlines - Product taste demonstrated in shipped work: interfaces field crews find obvious, workflows matching how work actually happens - Bonus: Construction tech or project controls (P6, schedule engines, critical path); BIM, IFC, or Revit data models; commissioning, BMS/EPMS, or controls protocols; document control and submittal workflows; graph data models; computer vision on site imagery
