Rocketlane is a fast-growing SaaS company redefining professional services delivery. Recently raised $60M in Series C funding (total $105M+) from Insight Partners, 8VC, Matrix Partners, and Nexus Venture Partners. The company has built Nitro, an agentic execution platform that configures systems, runs migrations, generates documentation, and surfaces delivery risks within customer project workflows.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer on the AI Implementation team, you will own the technical success of strategic customers adopting Nitro AI agents. You'll embed with customer teams to run discovery, design agent workflows, configure integrations, engineer prompts, and ship production-grade apps and agents that drive measurable outcomes. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end deployment of Nitro AI agents for enterprise customers, from discovery and solution design through go-live and optimization
- Lead technical discovery sessions with customer stakeholders (Services leaders, IT, Operations, Revenue teams) to map workflows to agent capabilities
- Design agent architectures solving real delivery problems: migration agents, workforce agents, documentation agents, and custom workflows
- Build and deploy custom integrations between Nitro and customer systems (CRM, HRMS, ERP, Finance tools, data warehouses, internal APIs)
- Write production-grade code and scripts to extend, customize, or integrate Nitro agents
- Engineer prompts, design evaluation frameworks, and tune agent behavior for customer-specific data and edge cases
- Build data pipelines and connectors to feed agents with proper context (SOWs, project history, customer communications, delivery data)
- Debug live agent behavior in customer environments and ship fixes rapidly
- Serve as technical point of contact for strategic accounts throughout implementation
- Surface patterns, edge cases, and feature gaps to Product and Engineering teams
- Partner with Sales and Solutions teams on enterprise deals, building POCs and proving business case for Nitro
- Represent Rocketlane's technical depth in customer executive conversations and architecture reviews
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of hands-on software engineering or product management experience with ability to write production-grade code in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
- Strong command of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth/auth flows, and enterprise integration patterns
- Good understanding of data modeling and ETL; comfortable working with messy enterprise data
- Comfortable with modern cloud, DevOps, and integration tooling (Postman, AWS/GCP, Docker, iPaaS platforms like Workato/Boomi/Make)
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs and AI agent frameworks (prompt engineering, agent orchestration, evaluation/guardrails)
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Replit, Lovable, or similar)
- Strong intuition for when to use agents vs. deterministic automation and how to design human-in-the-loop workflows
- 1+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Forward Deployed Engineering, Technical Consulting, Implementation) at B2B SaaS or AI company
- Proven ability to drive enterprise deployments end-to-end with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to simplify complex AI concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- Bias toward action and ownership; strong first-principles thinking
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity without established playbooks
Good-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with Professional Services Automation (PSA) tools (Rocketlane, Asana, Wrike, ClickUp, Salesforce PSA, Kantata, etc.)
- Background in Professional Services, Customer Success Engineering, or technical implementation at enterprise SaaS
- Prior exposure to building or deploying agentic AI systems in production at AI-native or AI-forward companies
