The Forward Deployed Engineer will be embedded at one of Re:Build's harness manufacturing plants, serving as the primary technical support for Cadonix's harness manufacturing software. Key responsibilities include:
- On-Site Production Support: Act as the first point of contact for the smartBuild software system. Triage, diagnose, and resolve issues affecting the software, its configuration, data, integrations, and connected shop-floor hardware (workstations, terminals, scanners, label printers), prioritizing anything impacting production output.
- Customer Engagement: Collaborate effectively with remote Product, Development, and QA teams across time zones, and work alongside a senior Forward Deployed Engineer on site.
- Customer Liaison & Change Requests: Understand manufacturing processes and difficulties, capture feature improvement requests as clear requirements, review these with the Cadonix Product and Development teams, and support user acceptance testing before new features deploy.
- Cloud Development & Tooling: Develop and maintain scripts, integrations, reports, and tools on AWS that facilitate site operations, following development standards for code review, testing, and deployment.
- Blocking Issue & Root Cause Analysis: Report defects to the development team with reproducible steps, logs, and business impact. Track issues to resolution, verify fixes on site, and lead root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact problems.
- Training & Documentation: Train operators, supervisors, and engineers on the system. Maintain site-specific procedures, runbooks, and knowledge bases to resolve common issues quickly and consistently.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience combined with education

- Understanding of production environments and shop-floor workflows

- Proficiency in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or C#
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, Windows and Linux environments, web-based applications and APIs
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
