M7 Health is an AI-powered workforce operations platform for healthcare, helping health systems forecast demand, auto-balance schedules, and deploy clinical staff efficiently. The company was acquired by Ascend Learning in September 2026 and now operates within its Healthcare Workforce Solutions practice alongside Laudio and StaffGarden. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will own the technical customer relationship with health systems, serving as the primary technical counterpart for customer IT, payroll, HR, and business application teams from late-stage sales through go-live and beyond. Key responsibilities include: - Running discovery sessions with customer stakeholders to map current-state workflows (new hire onboarding from HRIS, hours and pay codes to payroll, user authentication) and identify required integrations - Reviewing customer technical specifications, interface documentation, and vendor API documentation to assess feasibility, requirements, and risks - Supporting late-stage sales cycles, security reviews, and RFP responses to ensure accurate integration commitments - Embedding with the Activations team during new customer launches, sequencing integration work against operational go-live plans - Writing integration specifications for engineering teams, including field mappings, data flows, source-of-truth decisions, and edge cases - Handling hands-on integration setup: configuring SSO with identity providers (Okta, Entra ID), standing up SFTP flat-file feeds, configuring field mappings and data transformations - Testing and validating data flows end-to-end, including reconciliation against source data, troubleshooting failed feeds, and running UAT with customer teams - Identifying and removing technical friction in the activation process, automating repetitive setup work - Owning the integration workstream on every launch plan, tracking open items and flagging risks early - Acting as a core voice in integrations strategy alongside Product and Engineering leadership, spotting patterns across customers and turning one-off solutions into reusable capabilities - Building and maintaining playbooks, templates, and documentation to accelerate future launches You will be a technical utility player on every launch: if a script, query, or quick fix gets a customer live faster, you own making it happen. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years in forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, technical implementation, or integration consulting, with ownership of the technical relationship at enterprise customers (software engineering background is a strong plus) - Comfortable reading API documentation (REST and SOAP), interface specs, and data schemas - Hands-on configuration experience: setting up SAML/OIDC connections with identity providers, standing up SFTP feeds, testing endpoints in Postman - SQL query capability - Strong discovery and communication skills; ability to translate customer workflows into technical specifications - Structured approach to tracking concurrent launches, flagging risks early, and driving closure - Active use of AI in daily workflow (code writing, documentation, etc.) - Alignment with M7's values: urgency, relentless curiosity, kindness, high craft standards - Must be authorized to work in the United States NICE TO HAVES: - Direct UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) experience with data models, scheduling data, T&A feeds, and pay rules - Health system IT background or experience at a healthcare SaaS company - Software engineering experience with Python or TypeScript for data transformation and debugging - Familiarity with M7's stack (TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, PostgreSQL, AWS) - Startup experience building structure in fast-moving environments
