Gushwork is an agentic AI startup that helps B2B companies get discovered in AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity by building a content engine on websites designed to attract AI visitors. The company has raised over $11M from top-tier VCs including SIG, Lightspeed, B Capital, and Beenext, and operates from the US and Bengaluru.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you own the complete customer engagement lifecycle: discovery, solution design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing support. This is a hands-on role where you sit close to customers, understand their business needs, and build software they use daily using Claude Code and similar AI coding tools. You will ship whole products end-to-end, not work as a small cog in a larger system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running discovery calls with customers to understand their business and requirements
- Designing solutions and building them using Claude Code or similar AI tools
- Taking customer problems and turning them into working products from start to finish
- Rolling out and onboarding products with customers, training their teams
- Deploying and maintaining products on the company's stack
- Fixing bugs, adding features, and ensuring reliability
- Scoping future work with customers and internal teams
- Answering customer questions about product functionality and data handling
The role appeals to engineers who have worked as solutions engineers, implementation engineers, or in similar delivery roles and now want to build product rather than just configure it. You should enjoy being in front of customers and owning delivery end-to-end.
Requirements:
- 1 to 2 years of experience building or delivering software for customers (as a software engineer, solutions engineer, implementation engineer, or similar)
- Have built and deployed at least one full web app (at work or as a personal project)
- Comfortable with modern application frameworks
- Proficient with AI coding tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
- Able to work with databases and deploy to the cloud
- Strong customer-facing skills: can run calls, ask the right questions, explain concepts simply
- Based in Bengaluru and able to work onsite
- Comfortable with working hours that overlap with US customers
