Foxglove is a unified data platform for Physical AI, helping robotics and autonomous systems teams make vast quantities of sensor and operational data actionable. The company serves customers across automotive, aerospace, defense, logistics, agriculture, and consumer robotics.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be the primary technical liaison for Foxglove's robotics customers in Korea. This is a hybrid role based in Hong Kong with significant travel to Korea (up to 50%) and occasional on-site customer deployments.
You will own end-to-end customer projects, from discovery through production deployment. Your responsibilities include:
- Conducting technical discovery meetings with customer engineering teams (in Korean and English) to understand their goals, constraints, and technical needs.
- Designing and building full-stack solutions using TypeScript/React, Node.js, Python, ROS, SQL, and/or Rust.
- Writing clear project scopes, timelines, and success criteria, from proof-of-concept to production.
- Deploying solutions in customer cloud, on-premises, and offline (air-gapped) environments.
- Installing and updating software at sites with no internet access, including writing deployment runbooks.
- Training customer teams and creating technical documentation in both Korean and English.
- Collaborating with Sales, Solutions Engineering, and Customer Success teams on shared accounts.
- Feeding customer insights back to Foxglove's product, design, and engineering teams to inform roadmap decisions.
- Contributing to internal libraries and supporting the broader Forward Deployed Engineer team.
This role requires strong technical judgment, customer empathy, and the ability to work independently with asynchronous communication (the core team is 16-17 hours ahead). You will be comfortable making trade-offs between perfect solutions and pragmatic, step-by-step delivery.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Fluent Korean and fluent English, both spoken and written.
- Proven experience running technical meetings with customer engineers and translating their requests into scoped work.
- Track record of rapid prototyping and step-by-step delivery with external stakeholders.
- Backend engineering experience in Node.js, Python, or Rust.
- Frontend engineering experience in React and TypeScript.
- Proficiency with Docker and experience deploying/supporting software on air-gapped networks.
- Ability to make independent product decisions and create usable solutions without a dedicated designer.
- Comfortable working independently with a distributed team.
- Willing to travel up to 50%, including to Korea, and work on-site with customers when needed.
- Bonus: robotics or industrial automation background, or prior experience in a deployed/field engineering role. C++ experience is a plus.
