Certa is an AI-native third-party risk management platform trusted by Fortune 500 companies including Honeywell, Uber, MARS, and Boeing. The platform uses Vibe Configuration℠ technology to let users configure workflows by describing them in natural language, enabling rapid, live implementation.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be the bridge between Certa's product and its largest customers. You'll work directly with Fortune 500 teams across compliance, information security, privacy, legal, procurement, finance, and sustainability to understand, design, and implement their third-party risk management processes.
Key responsibilities:
• Discovery & Design: Conduct discovery and design sessions with cross-functional customer teams to understand current third-party processes, including informal workflows in email, spreadsheets, and institutional knowledge. You'll engage with competing stakeholder views and map both current and target states.
• Process Optimization: Define success metrics that matter to customers—onboarding cycle time, assessment turnaround, reviewer effort, audit readiness—and optimize workflows for adoption and usability, not just technical correctness.
• Configuration & Automation: Build workflows, forms, logic, risk scoring, and approvals in Studio using Vibe Configuration℠, often live in customer sessions. Integrate with existing systems, manage data flows, and debug failures across systems.
• Delivery Ownership: Own the full implementation lifecycle—planning, governance, testing (SIT, UAT, regression), cutover, go-live, hypercare, and handover. You are accountable for delivery dates and success metrics.
• Platform Learning: Identify platform limits in real-world deployments and bring evidence-backed feedback to Product. Convert successful implementations into templates and accelerators to accelerate future deployments.
You'll be one of the first people in this role, which means you'll define how forward deployment works at Certa and shape the company's customer success model.
Requirements:
• 3+ years of customer-facing technical delivery experience in forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, implementation consulting, or technical professional services.
• Hands-on technical skills: comfortable with REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, and data mapping; able to script in Python or JavaScript; capable of debugging failures across unfamiliar systems.
• Production LLM experience: demonstrated work with LLMs in production environments (not demos), including prompt engineering, retrieval systems, agent workflows, and systematic output evaluation.
• Product-centric mindset: focus on end-user experience over requirements documentation; bias toward shipping usable solutions and iterating rather than perfecting before launch.
• Delivery fluency: experience carrying go-live dates; familiarity with project planning, RAID logs, phase gates, test scenarios, SIT, UAT, and regression testing.
• Communication skills: thoughtful and concise; able to listen effectively and hold your own in conversations with C-suite executives (e.g., Chief Procurement Officers), legal counsel, and security architects; comfortable saying no to customers while maintaining relationships.
• Domain knowledge (preferred): third-party risk, procurement, or compliance background is a plus but not required.
