Wonderschool is building software and infrastructure to help early childhood education providers launch and grow in-home programs, while partnering with governments to modernize public childcare systems.
You will serve as a Forward Deployed Engineer, leading product development on strategically important initiatives. This role blends engineering, product, operations, and business leadership. You'll spend significant time working directly with customers (traveling as needed), uncovering pain points, and building AI-powered solutions that drive measurable impact on revenue, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Work directly with users and internal teams to identify high-leverage problems and ship product solutions
- Write production code (approximately 50% of your time) and ship weekly improvements across the customer journey
- Build and deploy AI-powered tooling that eliminates manual effort and improves experiences for providers, parents, and government partners
- Automate onboarding flows, proposal generation, reporting processes, and operational workflows
- Own full feedback loops: discover user needs, design solutions, write code, test, deploy, and monitor adoption
- Prioritize based on business impact and collaborate across sales, onboarding, and account management teams
- Use AI accelerators like Windsurf and Cursor to increase velocity and output quality
Success means consistently uncovering user pain points and shipping solutions that improve core metrics (conversion, retention, revenue). You'll operate with founder-like ownership, moving fast and staying close to customers with minimal hand-holding.
Requirements:
- Founder experience: you've started a company, built products that acquired users, or generated revenue independently
- Technical proficiency: comfortable shipping production code in Python, JavaScript, or similar languages
- AI/LLM experience: demonstrated use of AI tools and developer platforms like Windsurf and Cursor
- Business acumen: background in consulting, P&L management, or business school; ability to prioritize based on ROI
- Customer engagement: comfortable talking to users weekly and translating insights into product decisions
- Operational mindset: able to operate in ambiguity, energized by high-trust and high-impact environments
- Location: in-person, 5-6 days per week with regular client travel required
