xAI's Power Generation Engineering team is seeking a Fluids Engineer to design, build, and activate fluid systems supporting power plants and related generation infrastructure. This is a hands-on role combining design work with field execution and real-time operational support.
You will be responsible for designing and analyzing complex fluid systems including fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed/instrument air, and HVAC systems. Your work will apply thermodynamics, fluid flow, and control theory to power plant process and utility systems. You'll model piping assemblies using CAD software, perform piping stress analysis, and develop detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams. You will select and specify components such as valves, pumps, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, and filters.
This role requires close collaboration with engineers from other disciplines (civil, structural, electrical, controls) to establish complete system designs. You will manage fabrication and installation of fluid systems at power plants, working hands-on in the field alongside skilled technician teams. You'll perform planning, analysis, and troubleshooting of system performance during commissioning, real-time plant operations, and post-outage data reviews. You will work closely with operations teams to ensure designs are well-understood and easy to operate long-term.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- 1+ years of experience with fluid systems or process engineering
- Proficiency with CAD software and piping stress analysis tools
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and control systems
- Ability to read and develop P&ID diagrams
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Adaptability to changing project directions
- Willingness to travel to other SpaceX locations as necessary
- Schedule flexibility due to plant operational needs
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Physical capability for lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying as required for field work
