Salary: USD 96,300 - 132,400 / annual
Archer Technologies, headquartered in Silicon Valley, is a leader in advanced air mobility, building an end-to-end platform that delivers air taxis, unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), aviation-related AI solutions, and other technologies for commercial aerospace and defense customers worldwide.
In this role, you will develop comprehensive flight test plans that directly trace to FAA certification basis requirements, ensuring test objectives, success criteria, and instrumentation needs are clearly defined and defensible to regulators. You will partner closely with subsystem engineering teams to understand system design intent, failure modes, and technical risk areas, translating that knowledge into test procedures that rigorously probe the system.
Key responsibilities include leading or supporting Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), coordinating inputs from engineering, safety, and operations to confirm readiness to fly. You will author and maintain detailed test plan documentation, including test point matrices, procedures, instrumentation and data requirements, and pass/fail criteria. You will coordinate with certification engineers and FAA representatives to ensure test plans and results support the certification basis and compliance findings. Additionally, you will contribute to lessons-learned and process improvement initiatives to accelerate and strengthen future test planning cycles.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical scope and influence across cross-functional teams, but does not involve direct people management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in flight test operations
- Strong knowledge of airworthiness certification flight test programs and regulatory requirements
- Experience with safety risk management processes related to flight testing or complex operational testing
- Proficiency in planning and executing ground and flight tests within certification or military projects
- Exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
