Merlin Labs (NASDAQ: MRLN) is a publicly traded aerospace and defense company developing autonomous flight systems for commercial and defense aviation. The company has proven its non-human pilot autonomy platform through hundreds of autonomous flights and is expanding operations to accelerate certification and commercialization. You will develop and integrate aircraft models within Merlin's simulation environment, supporting scalable and reusable modeling across multiple aircraft platforms. This role focuses on building and refining aircraft dynamics models, contributing to structured modeling approaches, and ensuring models are usable within mission scenarios and simulation workflows. You will work closely with simulation platform and integration teams to bring aircraft models from concept to operational use in the virtual test environment, supporting both active aircraft programs and long-term evolution of flight dynamics capability. Key responsibilities include: - Develop, improve, and update aircraft models simulating aerodynamics, control systems, servos, brakes, landing gear, and related systems - Support flight test planning, instrumentation requirements, and test data analysis to gather quality data for simulation development and validation - Write software to support continuous improvements to the existing simulation environment - Collaborate with virtual test environment users to ensure their objectives are met - Support expansion of the virtual test environment to include additional advancements needed for customers Your work will directly support autonomy development, system integration, and validation efforts across multiple aircraft platforms. REQUIREMENTS: - BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering - 5+ years of relevant experience working with aircraft dynamics and aircraft simulation - Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink with basic knowledge of C, C++, and Python - Understanding of conventional aircraft simulation modeling techniques - Experience with flight test - Experience with aircraft certification NICE TO HAVE: - MS/PhD in Aerospace Engineering focusing on aircraft flight dynamics - Experience integrating with AFSIM - Experience with Live, Virtual, Constructive simulation techniques and processes - Proficiency in C, C++, and Python - Experience setting up and flying simulators personally or professionally - Pilot's license or flight experience
