Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The company develops Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that integrates thousands of data streams into a real-time 3D command and control center. Anduril brings cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to military applications.
As a Firmware Engineer on the Manufacturing Test team, you will develop platforms to interact with Anduril's products at the lowest hardware levels (I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, USB, etc.). You will work within an interdisciplinary product development team to deliver streamlined solutions for test execution and automation. Your code will ensure consistent shipment of the highest quality products to customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build firmware and software that tests hardware products, utilizing expertise to anticipate failure modes and create code for host/client verification of form, fit, and function
- Develop low-level firmware/software for microcontroller platforms interfacing with robots or control algorithms for off-the-shelf data acquisition tools
- Build device-side validation of system-level features using SSH, gRPC, and existing debug tools
- Debug and troubleshoot issues spanning electrical, firmware, and software boundaries, then transfer processes to automated test and failure analysis SOPs for production staff
- Engage in Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews with electrical engineering and product firmware teams
You will build features for embedded Linux, NIX, and several RTOS platforms. The role requires solving complex data acquisition challenges in both analog and digital domains, thinking creatively about difficult testing problems, and continuously improving automation methods, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong C coding ability for embedded systems
- Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors
- Experience developing firmware in bare-metal, RTOS environments, and embedded Linux
- Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring-up, and debugging
- Familiarity with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, and Ethernet
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bring-up and debug expertise for new designs, comfortable with low and high-speed interfaces
- Strong fundamentals in data acquisition and analysis (FFT, Bode plots, control loops)
- Experience with one or more microcontroller cores (ARM, AVR, MSP430, PIC, etc.)
- Experience with embedded Linux development and deployment processes
- Debugging skills with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
- Bias for action and natural curiosity about technologies and tools
