Itron is seeking a Firmware Engineer to join its international and multicultural firmware organization at either the Liberty Lake, Washington or Waseca, Minnesota site. You will participate in all phases of the development lifecycle for a wide range of solutions, from residential and light commercial & industrial products to communication systems.
In this role, you will operate in a rigorous development environment with regular internal integration and external customer-facing system releases. Key responsibilities include assisting in design, documentation, development, debugging, validation and maintenance of code; implementing standards-compliant (ISO, IEEE, etc.) features within approved regulatory frameworks such as FCC and UL; and developing firmware and associated unit tests in C/C++. You will identify, analyze, document and resolve defects, errors and inconsistencies in firmware using standard practices and procedures. A significant aspect of this role involves supporting products after deployment to the field across their 20+ year lifetime, from initial programming to routine upgrades to low-battery end-of-life support. You will also perform hands-on debugging in the hardware lab.
This is a typical office-based role with a hybrid work schedule and no special physical demands, though it is classified as safety-sensitive. Travel is minimal (0-5%). The position includes a competitive benefits package with financial, social, health and wellbeing programs, paid vacation, 401k matching, employee stock purchase program, and more.
