As FinCrime AML/CTF Manager, you will lead and grow the 1st line AML/CTF operations team, translating compliance policies into actionable risk management processes across the entire customer lifecycle. Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and maintaining Customer Risk Assessment Frameworks, ensuring risk scoring and categorization accurately reflect financial crime realities
- Leading periodic and event-driven reviews across the customer portfolio to dynamically reassess customer risk categorizations
- Overseeing onboarding and ongoing monitoring activities executed by KYC and KYB teams, aligning internal controls with regulatory expectations
- Partnering with Product teams to define actionable onboarding requirements that balance regulatory compliance with frictionless user experience
- Overseeing end-to-end transaction monitoring for all AML/CTF typologies, including timely assessments, escalations, and scenario calibrations
- Mentoring and scaling a team of AML/CTF analysts, driving operational excellence, and reporting risk metrics to senior management
- Acting as primary liaison to the 2nd Line Compliance team, translating regulatory updates into scalable operational workflows
- Serving as final 1st line approver for Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs)
- Preparing operational documentation and data for internal audits, external regulatory reviews, and inquiries from competent authorities
The role is hybrid (3 days per week in-office: Tuesday, Thursday, plus 1 day of your choice), with flexibility to request additional remote time. Relocation to Luxembourg is mandatory.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years in AML/CTF operations within Fintech, digital banking, or payment processing environments
- 2+ years of experience leading and managing dedicated teams
- Profound understanding of EU AML Directives and FATF recommendations
- Strong knowledge of Luxembourg regulatory requirements (knowledge of Italian regulations is a plus)
- Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent is highly expected
- Proven track record managing transaction monitoring systems, reviewing/approving SARs/STRs, and designing practical customer risk-rating frameworks
- Exceptional ability to negotiate, collaborate across functions, and liaise seamlessly with 2nd line compliance teams
- Strong analytical mindset capable of leveraging KPIs and data tools (such as HEX, SQL, or Splunk) to optimize operational queues and assess resource needs
- Agility to lead teams through hyper-growth, shifting regulations, and tech upgrades while maintaining high morale and performance
