OpenAI is seeking a Financial Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate financial systems and integrations supporting critical accounting processes across Oracle Fusion Cloud and the broader finance technology ecosystem. You will partner with Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data, Tax, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and auditable solutions. This role combines deep Oracle Financials expertise with strong accounting process knowledge and an engineering mindset. Key responsibilities include: - Own solution design, delivery, and continuous improvement of Oracle Fusion Financials and connected finance platforms, acting as both hands-on engineer and trusted functional partner. - Partner with Corporate Accounting to improve processes for equity, payroll, expense accruals, lease accounting, M&A, reconciliations, and month-end/quarter-end close. - Work with Accounts Payable on transformation initiatives across invoice intake, validation, matching, approvals, accounting, payments, supplier experience, and exception management. - Design accounting solutions for complex supply chain initiatives including procurement, receiving, inventory, costing, intercompany flows, and lifecycle accounting. - Apply strong cost-accounting knowledge to standard cost, landed cost, purchase price variance, inventory valuation, and related financial controls. - Partner with Compute and Infrastructure Accounting to design systems for data-center operations, including asset capitalization, depreciation, lease accounting, and close. - Architect scalable Oracle-integrated solutions for complex revenue arrangements under ASC 606, translating contract terms into accounting rules, data flows, and controls. - Translate complex accounting requirements into system architecture, accounting rules, data models, controls, and integrations. - Architect integrations between Oracle and upstream/downstream systems using REST APIs, events, middleware, and governed data pipelines. - Design and implement Oracle Financial Accounting Hub solutions for multiple subledger applications. - Resolve complex intercompany accounting issues involving foreign exchange, balancing, and multi-entity operations. - Build AI-enabled and agentic finance solutions—assistants, automated workflows, dynamic dashboards—to reduce manual work and improve decision-making. - Create monitoring, exception handling, reconciliation, and control frameworks to ensure automated processes remain reliable and auditable. - Triage critical production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and deliver permanent fixes. The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is offered. Requirements: - 10+ years of experience in financial systems engineering, ERP, accounting technology, or solution architecture roles, with demonstrated ownership of complex finance transformation initiatives. - 8+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Financials, including several of: General Ledger, Payables, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, Intercompany, Cash Management, Cost Accounting, Financial Accounting Hub. - Experience delivering at least two full-cycle Oracle Fusion implementations or comparably complex enterprise finance programs. - Strong knowledge of corporate accounting processes: equity, payroll, expense accruals, lease accounting, M&A, reconciliations, financial close. - Hands-on experience transforming Accounts Payable processes and integrating procurement, invoicing, tax, payments, and reporting. - Deep understanding of supply chain accounting, inventory and cost accounting, standard and landed costs, purchase price variance, and cost of goods sold. - Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and experience designing Oracle-integrated solutions for hardware and complex revenue arrangements. - Experience implementing Oracle Financial Accounting Hub from design through production for multiple subledger applications. - Experience with enterprise integrations using Oracle Integration Cloud or similar middleware, Oracle Fusion APIs, event-driven patterns, Python, SQL, and modern data platforms. - Demonstrated interest and experience applying AI, agents, automation, and nontraditional engineering approaches to finance operations. - Experience supporting compute infrastructure or data-center accounting (asset capitalization, depreciation, lease accounting) is a strong advantage. - Experience resolving global intercompany challenges involving foreign exchange, multi-entity balancing, and settlement. - Strong controls and compliance mindset with judgment to improve automation without compromising auditability. - Exceptional communication skills and ability to translate between Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Data, and business stakeholders. - Bias for action paired with systems thinking. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
