Halter is an agtech company transforming sustainable grazing practices through innovative technology. The company is backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, and DCVC. You will own the finance engine for Argentina and Uruguay, reporting to the Director Finance & Operations, South America. This is a build role where you'll design and implement financial processes from the ground up as the company scales rapidly in the region. Key Responsibilities: - Manage the monthly close for both Argentina and Uruguay: ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and reconciliation to group reporting - Own tax compliance across both countries (ARCA/AFIP and provincial Ingresos Brutos in Argentina; DGI and BPS in Uruguay), managing advisors rather than relying on them - Handle statutory reporting, audits, and inflation-adjusted local reporting with bridging to group IFRS standards - Establish and maintain controls, coding discipline, approvals, documentation, and audit-readiness across both entities - Manage treasury operations including cash positions, FX execution within policy, and supplier payment compliance - Lead and develop a Financial Accountant and Billing Admin, deciding what to automate versus resource - Partner with the global finance team in New Zealand on consolidation and group requirements You'll be accountable for building processes that scale, ensuring every number is accurate and defensible, and creating the financial discipline that supports rapid growth. Halter's culture emphasizes meaningful work, solving hard problems with talented people, continuous learning (with a $1,000 annual personal growth fund), and autonomy. The company is office-first but flexible when needed, with a high-trust environment. Requirements: Must-haves: - 6 to 10 years in accounting, controllership, or audit with hands-on Argentine tax and statutory experience - End-to-end ownership of a close (not just contribution) - Working knowledge of inflation-adjusted reporting and IFRS, with ability to reconcile the two - Fluency in Spanish and English (daily collaboration with New Zealand team) - Experience managing or mentoring others - Accuracy and builder's instinct; comfort creating process where none exists Nice-to-haves: - Uruguayan tax and compliance exposure - Big 4 background or experience in a multinational subsidiary reporting to an offshore parent - NetSuite or comparable ERP experience - Track record of automating finance processes or using AI for leverage
