Q-CTRL is the global leader in AI-powered quantum control infrastructure software, founded in 2017 and recently raised US$113 million in Series B funding. The Finance team plays a crucial role in supporting the mission to make quantum technology useful, acting as trusted business partners to every department and investors. In this role, you will handle hands-on day-to-day accounting functions including accounts payable, expenses, payroll, banking, and journal entries. Key responsibilities include managing payroll processing and superannuation reconciliations with Rippling and third-party processors; assisting with accurate and timely month-end close by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company, and fixed assets; coordinating with other departments to obtain transaction information and resolve reconciling items; assisting with tax and statutory compliance obligations; supporting financial statement preparation and auditor coordination; implementing new procedures to enhance departmental workflow; partnering with operational teams to resolve financial queries; and involvement in equity transactions and capital projects. The role is based in Sydney with the company operating globally across Sydney, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Huntsville, Berlin, and Oxford. Requirements: - 3+ years in a position equivalent to general ledger accountant/bookkeeper or higher responsibilities - Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; working towards or completion of CA/CPA qualification - Good working knowledge of IFRS; knowledge of GAAP helpful - Experience in payroll processes across Australia, UK, and/or USA - Experience with Campfire, Ramp, Stripe, or similar accounting ERP; Google Workspace proficiency; proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Strong communication skills with ability to engage non-finance stakeholders - Ability to manage competing deadlines with confidence and adaptability in fast-paced, rapidly evolving startup environment - Alignment with core values (to be real, trusted, just, and revered) with willingness to adapt, collaborate, and help others
